Heather Armstrong, Popular American Blogger Dead


Heather Armstrong, also known as Dooce, has passed away at the age of 47. It is currently believed that she died by suicide on May 9, 2023, but this has not been confirmed by her family or friends.

Heather gained her nickname from her difficulty spelling “dude” correctly in online conversations with former colleagues.

Heather celebrated six months of sobriety on October 8, 2021.

In a post on Dooce.com, she described the struggle of feeling like a wounded animal and sobbing violently for hours on end. This victory was symbolic, but it was also incredibly painful for her to achieve.

Heather Armstrong was born as Heather Hamilton in Memphis, Tennessee in 1975. She attended Brigham Young University in Utah, where she began to have doubts about the LDS Church and experienced depression.

After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a web developer during the dot-com boom.

In 2002, Heather was allegedly fired from her position as a web designer and graphic artist for writing satirical accounts of her experiences at a dot-com startup on her personal blog, dooce.com.

Her situation sparked a debate about privacy concerns. The term “dooced” came to mean getting fired for something you’ve written on your website, which Heather humorously disavows on her blog’s FAQ.
