Chris Smith, an American football defensive end has played in the National Football League (NFL) for several teams.

Smith was drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he also played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans. He played college football at Arkansas.

Chris Smith attended West Rowan High School in Mount Ulla, North Carolina. During his senior year, he made 98 tackles and 16.5 sacks.

As a true freshman in 2010, Smith played in six games for the Arkansas Razorbacks, recording three tackles.

In his sophomore year, he played in 13 games, starting in three and making 31 tackles with 3.5 sacks. He started all 12 games in his junior year, recording 52 tackles and 9.5 sacks. As a senior, he made 37 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 12 games. In his senior year, he was named a second-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection.

Chris Smith was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, as the 159th overall pick. He was released on September 13, 2014, but he was later signed to their practice squad two days later.

He was promoted to the active roster on October 20. In 2017, he was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a 2018 conditional draft pick. He played in all 16 games in his first year with the Bengals, recording a career-high 26 tackles and three sacks.

In 2018, Smith signed a three-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. He played in 16 games, making 21 combined tackles, one sack, two passes defended, and a forced fumble. He was waived by the Browns on December 3, 2019, after playing in nine games and making just one tackle.

He then signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers in March 2020 but was released by the team in July of the same year. He had a tryout with the Las Vegas Raiders on August 23, 2020.

Smith was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders on August 24, 2020, but was released on September 5, 2020.

He was later signed to the practice squad the next day and was elevated to the active roster several times throughout the season.

On December 12, 2020, he was signed to the active roster. In 2021, Smith signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens but was released in August of that year. He was re-signed to the practice squad but was later released on October 19, 2021.

He then signed with the Houston Texans’ practice squad on September 3, 2021, and was later promoted to the active roster on December 23, 2021.
