Man with the highest number of push-ups in the world

Lucas Helmke, a 33-year-old man from Brisbane, Australia, has broken the world record for the most push ups performed in one hour.

He accomplished this feat by completing 3,206 push ups within the given time, which averages to over 53 push ups per minute.

Lucas attempted to break this record to inspire his one-year-old son and show him that nothing is impossible. He trained for two to three years to prepare for this attempt.

Lucas performed the record-breaking attempt in his old powerlifting gym, Iron Underground, located in Brisbane.

He broke the push ups down into 30-second sets, aiming to complete 26 push ups in each one.

Criteria for a successful attempt

In order for a push up to be counted towards the record total, Lucas was required to maintain perfect form for each push up.

This means his body must remain straight throughout the exercise, without any bending at the knees or waist.

The body must be lowered until at least a 90-degree angle is attained at the elbow and then raised until the arms are straight.

Number of discounted push ups

Only 34 of Lucas’ push ups were discounted due to improper form, which is an impressively low number considering the speed at which he was performing the push ups.

After achieving the Guinness World Records title for most push ups in one hour, Lucas plans to set more push up records as well as other physical records. He aims to break at least one record every year from now on.

Previous record holders

Before Lucas and Daniel Scali, who held the previous record, the title for most push ups in one hour was held by Jarrad Young from Australia, who broke the record three times from 2018 to 2021. Prior to Jarrad, the record belonged to Carlton Williams from the UK, who broke it twice in 2014 and 2015.

As the record for most push ups in one hour gets higher and higher, it is becoming more challenging for individuals to break it.

Lucas managed to perform almost 1,000 more push ups than the previous record holder, Carlton Williams, in 2015.

However, it remains to be seen whether someone will be able to extend the record by another 1,000 in the future.
