Susanna Reid is a well-known English television presenter and journalist. She co-presented BBC Breakfast from 2001 to 2014 alongside Bill Turnbull and Charlie Stayt.
In 2013, she participated in Strictly Come Dancing and finished as a runner-up with her dance partner, Kevin Clifton. Since 2014, Reid has been the lead presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain, alongside Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway, and Ed Balls.
Reid was born on December 10, 1970, in Croydon, South London. She attended several independent schools, including Croham Hurst School, Croydon High School, and St Paul’s Girls’ School.
Her parents divorced when she was nine years old. Her father worked as a management consultant, and her mother was a nurse. During her adolescence, Reid pursued acting and appeared in stage productions and television shows.
She studied Politics and Philosophy at the University of Bristol and served as the editor of the student newspaper, Epigram. Afterward, she trained as a journalist at Cardiff University’s Centre for Journalism, earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.
Reid’s career began as a news producer at BBC Radio Bristol in 1994. She later joined BBC News 24 as a reporter and eventually became a presenter. She gained recognition as one of the main presenters on BBC Breakfast, where she replaced Sian Williams in 2012. Reid also presented Sunday Morning Live on BBC One from 2010 to 2011 and worked as a newsreader on The Andrew Marr Show.
In addition to her broadcasting roles, Reid has taken part in various television programs. She competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, reaching the finals. She also appeared on Tipping Point and co-presented Save Money: Good Food. Reid made a cameo appearance in the soap opera Hollyoaks and participated in Celebrity Gogglebox alongside Robert Rinder.
Reid’s move to ITV was confirmed in 2014, where she became the lead presenter of Good Morning Britain. She has received several accolades throughout her career, including being named Newsreader of the Year by the Television and Radio Industries Club in 2014 and 2015. In 2015, she was also awarded an Honorary Fellowship from Cardiff University.
