Who is Robert Finnegan? Three Mobile CEO


Robert Finnegan was appointed as the CEO of Three UK and Ireland in March 2020. Before that, he served as the CEO of Three Ireland since its launch in 2005 and led the acquisition of O2 Ireland in 2014.

As the CEO of Three UK, Robert Finnegan is responsible for utilizing the leading spectrum portfolio of the UK to provide a great experience to its 10 million customers. He has the mandate to accelerate meaningful growth opportunities across both CK Hutchison businesses.

Three Ireland is one of the leading mobile operators in Ireland. It has a 35% market share and over 2.3 million customers.


Robert Finnegan is committed to providing better-connected life to its customers by offering meaningful products, best-in-class service, and a connected network experience. Three Ireland carries over 65% of all mobile data traffic in Ireland.

Robert Finnegan worked for CK Hutchison in Hong Kong for thirteen years before joining Three Ireland.

He served as the CEO of Watson’s, a beverage division of CK Hutchison, and strategically led the development of its water business in China and Europe, building it to a market leader position.

He also initiated and led the divestiture of Powwow to Nestle for US$545m. Before serving as the CEO at Watson’s, he held positions as Financial Controller and Finance and Strategic Planning Director at Hutchison for six years.

Apart from Three, Robert Finnegan is a non-Executive Director of AMCK, a leader in the Irish aircraft leasing market and a CK Hutchison sister company of Three.

Robert Finnegan is a qualified accountant and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He has also held senior finance roles at Procter and Gamble and Allied Domecq.
