Chamberlain was born and raised in the Spokane Valley area, where he graduated from University High School in 1988.
He received a football scholarship to attend the University of Puget Sound, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1992.
Shortly after, he started working for the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office.
After three years, Chamberlain took a lateral transfer to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
While there, he actively connected with the community and carried out outreach through his ‘Ask Deputy Craig’ segments on the local news.
Chamberlain spent 23 years working for the SCSO before announcing in February of the previous year that he intended to run for sheriff.
Unfortunately, after just four days, former Sheriff Knezovich terminated Chamberlain’s employment due to allegations that he had lied during an investigation.
After serving for 25 years as a deputy, Chamberlain decided to try something new and was employed as a spokesman and business developer at SERVPRO of Spokane County, which is responsible for the cleanup of damage caused by fire, water, and mold.
