Rita Sahatçiu Ora is a British singer and songwriter who gained fame in 2012. She was born in Pristina, Kosovo, and later moved to London with her family. Ora’s breakthrough came when she featured on DJ Fresh’s single “Hot Right Now,” which reached number one in the UK. Her debut album, titled “Ora,” was released in August 2012 and also reached number one in the UK.
Ora’s second studio album, “Phoenix,” was released in November 2018. The lead single from the album, “Your Song,” reached the top ten in the UK, followed by “Anywhere” and “Let You Love Me,” which both reached the top five. With “Let You Love Me,” Ora became the first British female solo artist to have thirteen top ten songs in the UK.
In her early life, Ora grew up in Notting Hill, West London, and attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she developed her passion for performing. She started her music career by performing at open mic sessions and auditioned for Eurovision in 2008 but later withdrew from the competition.
After catching the attention of Roc Nation, Ora signed a recording and publishing deal with the American label in 2008. She made a cameo appearance in Jay Z’s music video for “Young Forever.” Ora’s debut single, “Hot Right Now,” was released in February 2012 and debuted at number one in the UK. She also served as the opening act for Drake’s Club Paradise Tour during the same period.
Following the success of “Hot Right Now,” Ora released her first solo single, “R.I.P.,” featuring Tinie Tempah, which also reached number one in the UK. Her next single, “How We Do (Party),” also topped the UK charts. Ora’s debut album, “Ora,” was released in August 2012 and received positive reception. She was nominated for several awards, including Best New Artist at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards.
Despite initial plans to open for Usher’s Euphoria Tour in 2013, the tour was postponed. Ora continued to work on her music career and released her second album, “Phoenix,” in 2018.
