Leroy Felty, a well-known car racing legend from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, passed away recently.
His death was announced through a Facebook post made by the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing on April 30th, 2023.

Leroy Felty was born on September 22, 1928, in Outwood, Pennsylvania. He dropped out of school to assist his mother after his brothers were drafted into the military.
He worked at Marlin Weaver Hatchery in Annville, where he applied food coloring to newborn chicks.
After serving in the Navy from 1946 to 1947, he received training in auto mechanics in Okinawa, Guam, and Hawaii.
Despite having a full-time job, Leroy Felty continued car racing on a part-time basis. He was supported by Paul Shuey, who helped with the body work on his car.
In 1962, Leroy was in a racing accident, and Paul arranged for a Reverend to pray with him at the hospital. In 1971, Leroy became a race car driver for United Racing and won the championship in 1971 and 1973.
Leroy Felty had many victories in his racing career. In 1952, he won all seven races at Zellers Grove. In 1963, he won the late model stock car championship at Williams Grove Speedway.
In 1964, he shared the championship in Selinsgrove with Toby Tobias, a fellow racer from Lebanon County who has since passed away.
Leroy Felty applied for a position at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation and worked there until 1988, when he retired early.
On his first day of work in 1963, he attended the funeral of President John F. Kennedy.
Overall, Leroy Felty had a successful career in both car racing and his professional life. He will be remembered as a legend in the car racing community.
