Nancy Brost, a teacher from the Nekoosa School District, passed away on April 29, 2023. She drowned in the Wisconsin River in the Township of Saratoga.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found that she had passed away as a result of drowning.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department reported that there were no suspicious circumstances in Nancy Brost’s drowning incident.
They did not provide any further information on the incident. Several agencies, including Wood County Sheriff’s deputies, Wood County Sheriff’s Rescue, the Department of Natural Resources, and others responded to the incident.
Richard Knuteson, a man from McFarland, died in a drowning incident at Lake Waubesa. On January 28, 2023, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Knuteson had failed to return home.
During the overnight search, sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue teams found his body submerged in the water. He was fishing on the northern side of the lake, and it appeared that his ATV had broken through the ice.
Both the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing their investigation into Richard Knuteson’s death. The medical examiner revealed that preliminary findings indicated that he died from drowning.
