Latto is an American rapper who first gained fame by winning the reality television series “The Rap Game” in 2016.

She rejected the record deal offered by the show’s organizers but later signed with RCA Records after her single “Bitch from da Souf” became a hit in 2019.

The song reached number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum. Latto’s debut album “Queen of da Souf” was released in August 2020 and included two more platinum-certified singles: “Muwop” featuring Gucci Mane, and “Said Sum”.

Latto’s breakthrough came with the release of “Big Energy”, the lead single from her second studio album “777” in 2022.

The song reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her highest-charting single to date.

Latto has received several nominations and awards for her work, including Best New Artist at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, Top Rap Female Artist at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, and the BET Award for Best New Artist in 2022.

She was born on December 22, 1998, in Columbus, Ohio, to a white mother and an African American biological father.

Latto attended Lovejoy High School in Clayton County, Georgia, where she was bullied for being “light-skinned”.

She was inspired to adopt the stage name Miss Mulatto after the “mulatto” racial classification.

Latto decided to become a rapper at the age of ten and began writing her own rap songs. Prior to pursuing music, she participated in drag racing.

Latto gave a stern warning to her cohost Brooklyn Nikole and all other young girls looking to fix “little tweaks” to find a healthy appreciation for their bodies because they’ll end up obsessing over trips to the surgeon and can never please everyone.
