Penélope Cruz Sánchez is a Spanish actress who was born on 28 April 1974. She has acted in films of various genres, especially those in the Spanish language, and has won several awards, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award.

Cruz signed with an agent at the age of 15, and made her acting debut on television at 16. She made her feature film debut the following year in Jamón Jamón (1992).

Her other early roles include Belle Époque (1992), Open Your Eyes (1997), Don Juan (1998), The Hi-Lo Country (1999), The Girl of Your Dreams (2000), and Woman on Top (2000).


Cruz is known for her collaborations with Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar in several films such as Live Flesh (1997), All About My Mother (1999), Volver (2006), Broken Embraces (2009), I’m So Excited! (2013), Pain and Glory (2019), and Parallel Mothers (2021). She has also worked with director Woody Allen in Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) and To Rome with Love (2012).

Cruz won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She has also received Oscar nominations for her roles in Volver (2006), Nine (2009), and Parallel Mothers (2021).

In addition, she has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award, four Golden Globe Awards, and five Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Monica Cruz is also a actress and a dancer, Mónica and Penélope both received professional training in dance, with Penélope attending Spain’s National Conservatory and Mónica studying ballet and flamenco at The Royal Academy of Dance.

After seven years of dancing with Joaquín Cortés’ flamenco dance company, Mónica left to pursue acting.

She has since appeared in various films and television shows, including Un Paso Adelante, The Inquiry, and Last Hour.

Eduardo Cruz is also a known musician, he has worked on many notable projects, including the very popular pirate of the Caribbean, his songs are scatted on various streaming platforms.
