Anne Hathaway, an American actress, was born on November 12th, 1982, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, USA.
Hathaway’s parents did not approve of her acting ambitions, and her mother gave up her career in performing to raise her children.
Hathaway grew up with “very strong principles” as a Roman Catholic, and wanted to become a nun when she was young.
She attended Wyoming Elementary School in Millburn, Brooklyn Heights Montessori School, and Millburn High School.
Hathaway participated in several productions during high school, and also appeared in productions at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.
In 1993, Hathaway graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and was the first adolescent to be accepted into the acting department of the Barrow Group Theater Company.
Hathaway attended Vassar College, majoring in English and minoring in Political Science, before moving to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.

Hathaway transitioned to adult roles in the thriller Brokeback Mountain (2005) and received critical acclaim for her work in Rachel Getting Married (2008), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
