A Houston man named Joseph McMullin died in a car accident while he was on a date with a woman.
The woman was not injured in the accident. The victim’s parents filed a lawsuit against Kristina Chambers, who was driving a blue Porsche 911 Carrera and hit McMullin, causing his death.
Joseph McMullin Cause Of Death
McMullin and his date were walking on Westheimer Road near Waugh Drive when Chambers allegedly hit a curb and collided with McMullin on the sidewalk.
Chambers hit a pole in the parking lot and stopped there. McMullin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chambers was driving at a speed of over 100 mph when she hit McMullin. Chambers’ blood alcohol content was almost four times the legal limit of 0.08% at the time of the accident, according to the lawsuit.
Chambers was taken to the hospital along with her two passengers, and she was later discharged and taken into custody. Chambers was charged with intoxication manslaughter and was released on a $50,000 bond.
In an interview with NBC News, Chambers’ attorney, Mark Thiessen, said that poor road conditions were the reason his client lost control of her vehicle.
He also questioned Chambers’ blood alcohol content level. Thiessen said that his client deserved a fair jury trial.
Joseph McMullin’s date Briana Iturrino told NBC affiliate KPRC that McMullin was sweet and smiling throughout the entire date.
They were leaving the doughnut shop when Iturrino saw the Porsche’s headlights. Iturrino said that McMullin didn’t deserve to go like that, and that he didn’t deserve to go now at all.
