A 15-year-old McClain High School student has died in a tragic utility terrain vehicle accident. The victim has been identified as Landon Crabtree.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred in Highland County on Beatty Road in Concord Township at around 12:25 a.m. this morning.
The vehicle involved was an Axis 500 UTV, driven by a 16-year-old, Seth Smith. The UTV was traveling eastbound on Beatty Road when it suddenly went off the left side of the road and hit an embankment, causing it to overturn.
The victim, Landon Crabtree, was ejected from the vehicle and trapped underneath as it turned.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Patrol, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, Highland County Coroner’s Office, Mowrystown Station 500 Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Service were present to investigate the accident.
At this time, there is no confirmation whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the investigation remains active.
This tragedy has left the community of Greenfield in mourning as they remember the young life lost in this accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Landon Crabtree during this difficult time.
