Stephen Port was a British serial rapist and killer who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2016 for murdering four young men and carrying out numerous rapes.
Stephen Port was born on February 22, 1975, in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. He grew up in a middle-class family and studied fashion and design at the University of Westminster.
Later, he worked as a chef in different restaurants and hotels. In 2012, he began using dating apps to meet young men for sex.
Over 15 months, between 2014 and 2015, Port murdered four men by drugging them with GHB and sexually assaulting them while they were unconscious.
Initially, the murders were treated as unconnected drug overdoses.
However, after the body of the fourth victim, Jack Taylor, was found near Port’s flat, the police launched a full investigation, leading to Port’s arrest in October 2015.
In November 2016, he was found guilty of all charges against him and was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.
The case raised concerns about the police response to reports of missing young men and the use of dating apps by serial killers.
The families of the victims criticized the police for failing to take their concerns seriously and for not linking the murders sooner.
The case also led to calls for better education and awareness about the dangers of drugs such as GHB.
Stephen Port has a sister named Sharon Port.
