Who is Will Levis? Kentucky Quarterback, Will Levis Falls on NFL Draft Day Due to Injury Concerns

William Donovan Levis, a promising young American football quarterback, has been drafted by the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL) in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Levis, who played college football at Penn State before transferring to Kentucky in 2021, was selected by the Titans in the second round, 33rd overall.

Born on June 27, 1999, in Newton, Massachusetts, Levis attended Xavier High School in Middletown, Connecticut.

As a senior, he set school records for passing touchdowns with 27 and passing yards with 2,793.

He was highly sought after by college football programs and ultimately committed to playing for Penn State.

Levis played for Penn State from 2018 to 2020, where he saw limited playing time.

He transferred to the University of Kentucky in 2021, where he became the starting quarterback and led the team to a successful season.

His impressive performance caught the attention of NFL scouts, ultimately leading to his selection by the Tennessee Titans.

Levis is known for his strong arm and accurate passing ability. He possesses excellent mobility and can effectively extend plays with his legs.

He is a dynamic playmaker who has the potential to develop into a top-tier NFL quarterback.

The Tennessee Titans have been searching for a franchise quarterback for several years, and they believe that Levis has the potential to fill that role.

With his combination of physical tools and leadership ability, he could be a significant asset to the team for many years to come.

Who is Will Levis? Kentucky Quarterback, Will Levis Falls on NFL Draft Day Due to Injury Concerns

The NFL Draft is always a time of excitement and anticipation, as top college prospects wait to hear their names called and find out where they will be starting their professional careers.

However, for Kentucky quarterback Will Levis, Day 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft was a disappointment, as he fell far below his projected draft position due to injury concerns.

Levis was once considered a near-lock as a top-five pick in the draft, but as the night went on, he fell out of the top 10, top 20, and then the entire first round.

It is currently unclear where he will ultimately end up, but his elongated stay inside the green room was not something that was expected by many.

So, what caused Levis’ draft day fall? According to ESPN, his plummet could be attributed to a nagging left toe injury that forced him to miss two games last season.

One team that was considering him reportedly deemed the injury problematic, despite Levis’ assertion that the toe has fully healed and he is ready to play.

Another team believed that he could manage the injury throughout the season, but that surgery would need to be discussed after 2023.

While falling in the draft due to injury concerns is not uncommon in NFL Draft history, Levis’ drop was particularly jarring, especially considering that there was speculation leading up to the draft that he could even be in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick.

However, the Carolina Panthers opted for Alabama’s Bryce Young as their top pick, and Levis continued to fall down the draft board.

Levis was ranked as CBS Sports’s No. 4 quarterback in this year’s draft class and the No. 18 prospect overall.

In his senior season at Kentucky, he completed 65.4% of his passes for 2,406 yards passing, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

While a fall on draft night is not a death sentence for an NFL career, it is not the way that Levis likely wanted to start his pro career.

Hopefully, he can overcome his injury concerns and prove his worth on the field.
