Johnny Gill Jr. is a well-known American singer and composer who was born on May 22, 1966.

He is the sixth and final member of the R&B/pop group New Edition and a member of the supergroup called LSG alongside Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat.

He has released eight albums under his own name, three albums under the name New Edition, two albums under the name LSG, and one album in collaboration with Stacy Lattisaw. As a solo artist, Gill has sold more than 15 million copies internationally.

Gill was born to Johnny Gill Sr., a Baptist pastor, and his wife, Annie Mae Gill. He was the fourth of their four sons.

Gill began singing in a family gospel group called “Little Johnny and Wings of Faith” when he was just five years old.

He performed in churches from a young age. During his academic career, he attended Kimball Elementary, Sousa Junior High, and Duke Ellington School of the Arts.

Due to the demands of his profession, he had to finish his high school education with the help of a tutor. Although he had initially intended to pursue a degree in electrical engineering, he eventually chose to focus on his singing career.

Gill has appeared in over 80 different movies and television shows as a musician and actor.

He sang “You For Me” in the film Madea’s Family Reunion, which was released in 2006.

He also appeared in an episode of the television show Family Matters. Alongside Robin Givens, Shirley Murdock, and Jermaine Crawford, Gill was one of the starring actors in the stage production of A Mother’s Prayer in 2009.
