A tragic incident has occurred at Roscoe Collegiate High School in Texas, where a 9th grade male student, later identified as Andrew Pope, attempted to take his own life with a handgun on Monday.

Pope was found seriously injured and taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater before being transferred to Cook Children’s Hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where he was listed in critical condition.

Sadly, Pope passed away on April 26th at around one in the morning.

According to reports, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, and it has been confirmed that this was an isolated incident and no other person was injured.

The Roscoe Collegiate ISD campuses were closed for the day, and all students were sent home shortly after the incident. Superintendent Guillermo Mancha Jr. stated that counselors would be brought in to help students work through their stress.

A GoFundMe account has been created by Pope’s 14-year-old friend, Harley Stuard, to help his family during this difficult time.
