Zachary Kapono Wilson, an American football quarterback, has been creating quite a buzz in the National Football League (NFL) since being drafted by the New York Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Born on August 3, 1999, in Draper, Utah, Wilson attended Corner Canyon High School, where he played high school football.
During his senior year, he passed for 2,986 yards and 24 touchdowns while also rushing for 752 yards and eight touchdowns.
Wilson had initially committed to playing quarterback at Boise State University but later decommitted and decided to attend Brigham Young University (BYU).
Wilson’s decision to attend BYU turned out to be a wise one, as he went on to have a stellar college career.
He was considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the New York Jets selected him second overall.
Wilson was the second of five quarterbacks taken in the first round of the draft, and he became the highest drafted player ever out of BYU.
The Jets wasted no time in signing Wilson to a four-year deal worth $35.15 million fully guaranteed, along with a $22.9 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option.
It is clear that the Jets have high hopes for Wilson and expect him to be a major contributor to the team’s success in the coming years.
