Dean Holland, a 34-year-old jockey, passed away after falling from his horse Headingley during a race in Donald, Victoria.

Alana Kelly, another jockey, also fell from her horse after it tripped over Headingley, but she was able to walk from the track for treatment.
Victoria Police confirmed Holland’s death and stated that they would prepare a report for the coroner.
WorkSafe was notified and will investigate the death, which was not treated as suspicious by the police.
Racing Victoria stewards announced that the event was abandoned around 2:40 pm.
Andy McKendry, a horse breeder, who owned several of the horses Holland rode throughout his career, described him as “a top bloke and great family man”.
He added that Holland had a wife and four kids. McKendry expressed his condolences, stating that Holland’s death is a big loss to his family and to all people in the industry.
