Wisenberg worked at the Department of Justice for over 20 years, serving in a number of different roles. He was the Deputy Independent Counsel for the Whitewater investigation during the Clinton Administration and also served as the Deputy Chief of the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division.

In addition to his work at the Department of Justice, Wisenberg has also taught at several law schools, including the George Washington University Law School and the University of Baltimore School of Law.
