Jeff Shell is an American media executive who has held several high-profile positions throughout his career.
Jeff Shell started off as the president of FOX Cable Network Group in 2001, and then became the president of Comcast Programming Group.
In 2019, he took over as the CEO of NBCUniversal, which is a subsidiary of Comcast.
In 2008, Shell endorsed Barack Obama for the Pennsylvania primary, and was subsequently named as the chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors by President Obama.
However, his time at NBCUniversal was not without controversy. In May 2020, it was reported that Shell was considering replacing CNBC’s current primetime offerings of business reality shows with right-wing talk shows to appeal to conservative viewers.
On April 23, 2023, it was announced that Jeff Shell and Comcast had mutually agreed to part ways immediately following a Comcast investigation led by outside counsel related to a complaint of inappropriate conduct.
In a statement, Shell admitted that this related to an “inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company.”
This news comes as a surprise to many in the industry, as Shell had been seen as a rising star in the media world.
