Vietnam War veteran killed in grocery store parking lot
A 76-year-old Vietnam War veteran, Robert Harter, was killed in a grocery store parking lot in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Robert Harter Cause of death
The accident occurred in the parking lot of the Meijer grocery store on the city’s northeast side at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Eyewitness account
According to an eyewitness named Dawn Harper, Harter was loading groceries into his car while riding an electric scooter when an SUV struck him.
Harper saw the SUV hit six cars, a cart corral, Harter, and his scooter. Harter and his scooter were stuck underneath the SUV and then dragged.
Family member confirms the identity
A family member, Betty George, confirmed that Harter was the victim.
She arrived at the scene to collect his belongings and mentioned that her uncle was a Vietnam War veteran.
