Christian Martinez, a 20-year-old man from Muscatine, has been missing since Saturday, April 15. He was last seen at 347 S. Gilbert Street in Iowa City, where he was visiting friends.
Martinez appears to have wandered off following a minor argument with his friends.
The Iowa City police have been searching for Christian Martinez since he was reported missing.
They have been sweeping the Iowa River for any leads, as Martinez was last seen walking towards the area and the train tracks shortly after he separated from his friends.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has also been searching the river in a boat.
Christian Martinez’s family and friends have been canvassing the area to find him. At least a hundred volunteers from the community have also shown up to help with the search.
The family has reached out to the Quad City Missing Person Network, who have joined the search for Christian Martinez.
Martinez’s friend, who was with him on the night he disappeared, told Iowa’s News Now that he was inebriated before taking off following an argument.
Where was Christian Martinez last seen?
Martinez had a history of abruptly leaving, and there was an earlier incident where he had wandered off and was later found drenched after he fell into a river.
Stephanie Kinney, who is part of the Quad City Missing Person Network and has been in Iowa City since the search began, said that the odds of finding Martinez alive are slim considering the amount of time that has passed since he vanished, which allegedly signified a dire outcome.
Christian Martinez was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black cargo pants. His phone died earlier in the evening on Friday, and his cards showed no activity since then.
